Interrelated Core Values |
| Commitment to Jesus Christ: We believe that salvation
from the power of sin and death is found in Jesus Christ who is the only
begotten Son of the Living God. This is Good News! All who come to Him
by faith, trusting in him alone, receive forgiveness of their sins and
are liberated from sin and death through his redemptive work in His life
and death on the Cross. These are transformed to live in newness of life
through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. This new life of faith
is to be marked by a joyful obedience to Jesus Christ, to God's Word and
to the leading of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 16:15-16; Ephesians 2:4-10;
2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 5:22-25). |
- Authority of Scripture: We believe that the Holy Scriptures
of the Old and New Testaments is God's Word, and is the normative standard
by which we are to order our lives, express our faith and function as a
community. There is no division between the Jesus Christ (the incarnate
word) and the Holy Scriptures (the written word) and the ministry of the
Holy Spirit in us (illumination). (2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 1:1-2, 14).
|
- Worship: We are committed to worshipping Almighty
God by presenting ourselves, body and soul as a living sacrifice; assembling
each Lord’s Day to hear the Word of the Lord, pray, and partake
of His Holy Sacraments, receiving them through the power of the Holy
Spirit. We desire our worship to be Scripturally sound, historically
informed through our Anglican tradition and relevant to our culture.(John
4:23-24; I Corinthians 11:23-26; Acts 17:22-24).
Changed People: We believe the Gospel changes people from the inside out. Christ
gives us a radically new identity, freeing us from both self-righteousness and
self-condemnation. He liberates us to accept people we once excluded, and to
break the bondage of things (even good things) that once drove us. In particular,
the gospel makes us welcoming and respectful toward those who do not share our
beliefs.
|
- Evangelism: We believe that nothing promotes the peace
and health of our community like the spread of faith in the gospel. It
renews both individual lives and re-orders the fabric of whole neighborhoods
(Matthew 9:12-13; Luke 15; I Timothy 4:1-5).
|
- Servanthood: We believe that every Christian is created
and gifted for ministry. We are, therefore, committed to equip, empower
and release the faithful to use their spiritual gifts to glorify God and
to build up the Body of Christ (Romans 12; I Corinthians 12-13). Though
we joyfully invite every person to faith in Jesus, we are committed to
sacrificially serving our neighbors whether they believe as we do or not.
We do this by using our gifts and resources for the needs of others, especially
the poor. We are committed to working for justice for wronged.
|
Biblical Leadership: We are committed to holding
ourselves accountable to the Biblical qualifications for Church leadership,
before God, one another within our Anglican polity, and as a witness
to the power of the gospel before a watching world. (John 13:34; 1 John
4:11-21). We are also committed to identifying and training strong lay
leaders who are committed to Christ and to assisting them reach areas
where they are of influence with the Gospel. |
- The “Everyday” Work of the Kingdom: We believe that the
gospel has a deep, vital, and healthy impact on the arts, business, government,
media, and academy of any society. Therefore we are highly committed
to support Christians' engagement with culture, helping them work with
excellence, distinctiveness, and accountability in their professions.
