About Our Rector

THE Reverend Doctor Victor Benton Minish II, (Vic) began his ministry experience as a university student summer missionary in 1989 doing beach evangelism in Panama City, Florida, then again at Catolica Universidad in Quito, Ecuador in the summer of 1990. In 1991 Fr. Vic began serving as a youth minister in rural churches in North Alabama. He graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1993, and began serving the church full time. Fr. Vic graduated with a Masters of Religious education from Birmingham Theological Seminary (1996), and a Masters of Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi (1998).

From 1999 until 2004, he served as the Director of Humanities at The Eastwood School (a Classical Christian School ) in Montgomery , where he taught Old and New Testament as well as Ancient and Medieval History. In 2001 he also became a professor of Apologetics at Birmingham Theological Seminary where he continues to teach.

While in Montgomery , he also served as a curate at Saint Joseph of Arimathea Anglican Church (EMC) under the direction of St. Joseph ’s rector, Fr. Kenneth Bailey. In 2005 he took his Ph.D. in Philosophy and Apologetics from Trinity Theological Seminary. His dissertation, “A Transcendental Analysis of the Apologetic Writings of Bishop Lesslie Newbigin” was an investigation into the appearance of a transcendental argument for God’s existence in Bishop Newbigin’s defense of the Christian faith to the growing secularization of Western culture.

Fr. Vic was ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Missionary Church in 2003 and a priest in 2004 by the Rt. Rev. Dr. William Millsaps, Bishop of the Diocese of the South, and presiding Bishop of the EMC. He teaches Old and New Testament, Apologetics, and various other Christian worldview courses at Faith Christian School in Anniston . He has been married to his wife Amy since 1997. They were both born in North Alabama, and grew up in Decatur . They have one daughter, Ava, born in 2003. When they are not otherwise occupied, the Minish’s enjoy hiking and other nature activities.
